The Buckner, The Knife I’ve Been Chasing For Years

Every once in a while a knife shows up that feels familiar the second you put it in your pocket.

That’s the Buckner for me.

For years I’ve been obsessed with the idea of the perfect lightweight hunting folder. Something simple. Something that disappears in your pocket but still feels capable when it’s time to actually use it. I’ve carried a lot of knives over the years, but one always stood out to me, the Benchmade Bugout.

The Bugout nailed something most companies miss. It carried insanely light, felt fast in the hand, and became one of those knives you forget you’re carrying until you need it. But losing one also taught me something important.

Knives had gotten too expensive.

I remember losing mine and immediately realizing how ridiculous it felt to be stressed over carrying a tool in the field. Hunting knives should get dirty. They should ride in your pocket during long hikes, get tossed on the dash of a truck, dropped in camp, and actually used without feeling like you’re risking a mortgage payment every time you take it outdoors..

This knife was designed to capture everything I loved about lightweight carry knives while making it affordable enough to actually use hard. Hunters orange G10 so you can spot it instantly in the dirt or leaves. A deep-bellied blade shape that feels incredible for skinning and field work. Lightweight enough that you barely notice it until it’s in your hand.

Just a really solid hunting knife that’s meant to live in your pocket all season long.

I’m especially excited because this weekend will be the first real field test for the Buckner. I’ll be putting it through actual use outdoors instead of just handling prototypes at a desk, and honestly, that’s the part I enjoy most. A knife doesn’t really become real until it’s dirty.

The Buckner is also important for another reason, it’s the first knife we’ve added to the permanent Grit standard collection in over a year.

There are a lot of drops coming over the next few weeks, but this one feels personal.
