Our Roots
Growing up in New Jersey, our founder Chuck Casella felt a long-standing magnetism for the wilderness and the gear that he needed to persevere within it. He carved out a minimalist existence by resisting traditional corporate culture, and spent what little money he saved exclusively on the gear that he needed for outdoor adventures. He wished there was quality gear he could rely on for boar hunts without having to break the piggy bank. Simple, durable designs shouldn’t cost so much. Why does the poor man buy twice? Because affordable gear is usually cheap in quality too. So Chuck began designing one-off batches of the gear he needed on the Central Coast of California. Like the persistent grit on the calloused hands of a true outdoorsman, Grit Knives was born for the minimalist to persevere where others falter.
