EDC and Jiu-Jitsu Where the Wild Meets the Mat

EDC and Jiu-Jitsu Where the Wild Meets the Mat

There’s something raw and real about Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Just like the wilderness, it strips away the noise and leaves you with nothing but truth. I’ve been training for 14 years now, and it’s more than just a martial art. It’s a way of thinking, moving, and surviving. That same mindset has always drawn me to the outdoors, where every decision matters and every tool has purpose.

This is where my passion for everyday carry was born. Whether you’re deep in the backcountry or in the heat of a roll, being prepared isn’t optional. It’s who you are. EDC is more than gear, it’s a mentality. You carry what you trust, what you’ve tested, and what you know will perform when it matters.

Funny enough, the first real connection between EDC and the jiu-jitsu world wasn’t a knife, it was nail clippers. Our MatClips were built because every grappler knows the rule no long nails on the mat. We’ve been selling them for a couple years now and they hit hard with the jiu-jitsu crowd clean tight nails, clean tight technique. That was our first signal that the EDC mindset had a place in the gym bag as much as the go-bag.Add a paragraph that the first connection to EDC and jiu-jitsu was the Matt clips our nail clippers we've been selling them for a couple years funny

So it only makes sense that Grit Knives and the jiu-jitsu world are finally colliding in the best way possible. This month we’re launching our biggest promotion ever. We’re proud to be joining forces with FloGrappling and equipping every athlete at the upcoming event with custom EDC kits. This isn’t some basic “gift basket” these kits are curated for grinders, for warriors, for the ones who show up every day and put in the work.

It’s my way of connecting back to the jiu-jitsu community that shaped me. And it’s just the beginning.

If you want to see what this culture is all about, go check out WNO 29. You’ll see raw intensity, high-level skill, and the same grit that drives everything we do at Grit Knives
