Fifteen Years in, the Gear Is Only Getting Better

Fifteen years on the mats teaches you a lot about pressure, patience, and all the tiny details that keep you rolling. You learn how to survive bad positions, how to breathe when someone twice your size is settling their weight, and how to keep showing up even when your body is begging for a rest day. Somewhere along that timeline you also learn that grooming is not a luxury, it is a survival skill. Anyone who has been caught by a rogue toenail during a scramble knows exactly what kind of injury that can be. That is where MatClips was born. Not from a boardroom, not from a marketing meeting, but from life on the mat and the very real desire to keep training partners safe and keep the roll clean.

What started as a simple idea for nail clippers built for jiu jitsu turned into one of the most surprisingly popular little tools in the gym bag. MatClips hit, and hit hard, because every grappler instantly understood why they existed. Now fifteen years into this journey it feels right to keep building. MatClips XL arrived for the toes that do the real work, and the feedback has been strong. So it is time to expand the gear that fits the lifestyle. I am working on new rash guards that carry the same spirit as everything else, tough, clean, functional, and built for the long rounds. After a decade and a half in this art I know what survives the grind. The next wave of gear is coming from that place, shaped by sweat, shaped by experience, shaped by the thing that has kept me showing up for fifteen years, the love of jiu jitsu and the community that grows around it.
